On September 25th 2015, countries around the world, under the aegis of the United Nations, adopted a set of goals to End Poverty, Protect the Planet and Ensure Prosperity for All\u00a0as part of a\u00a0new sustainable development agenda.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\n\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years (2015-2030) and these are now known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There are a total of 17 SDGs as listed below:<\/span><\/h4>\n
\n

\n\n<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. \n
    No Poverty:<\/strong> End poverty in all its forms everywhere.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    Zero Hunger:<\/strong> End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    Good Health and Well-Being:<\/strong> Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n
    Quality Education:<\/strong> Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n
    Gender Equality:<\/strong> Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n
    Clean Water and Sanitation:<\/strong> Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n
    Affordable and Clean Energy:<\/strong> Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  8. \n
    Decent Work and Economic Growth:<\/strong> Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  9. \n
    Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure:<\/strong> Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  10. \n
    Reduced Inequalities:<\/strong> Reduce inequality within and among countries.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  11. \n
    Sustainable Cities and Communities:<\/strong> Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  12. \n
    Responsible Consumption and Production:<\/strong> Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  13. \n
    Climate Action:<\/strong> Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  14. \n
    Life Below Water:<\/strong> Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  15. \n
    Life on Land:<\/strong> Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  16. \n
    Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions:<\/strong> Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  17. \n
    Partnership for the Goals:<\/strong> Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
